We have been lucky enough to have four visits this Summer.
We began with a visit to Steve Hickman’s nursery, Hoyland Plants on 10th June.
Steve and Colin gave us so much information and so much of their time showing us round their many greenhouses with clivias, agapanthus, tulbaghias, disa orchids – and much more!
Many thanks to Steve, Colin and the whole family for making us so welcome.
Afterwards, we went to Wentworth Garden Centre for lunch and to see their plants on offer and their gardens.
On 1st July we went to Stone Barn, Church Lane, Hereford, HR1 4JY.
This had been developed from a farmyard and field over 30 years by Mary-Ann Robinson and Colin Campbell who were very happy to show us round the various sections of the garden.
This was followed by lunch at the Green Man, Fownhope where we were very grandly given their function room for our meal!
After lunch we went to Stuart Donachie’s stunning gardens at The Lyndalls, Sollars Hope, Fownhope. The gardens were developed over the past 26 years with an overall informal design with emphasis on natural contours and forms. It was an absolute treat.
Stuart led the group around the garden, naming plants and giving background on development, greatly enhancing the visit.
