A question raised at the last AGM was that although there is a Beauty Contest at the AGM each year for the Best Nerine and the Best non-nerine Amaryllid, there is nothing that members can enter with plants that flower at other times of the year. As a result, the committee decided to hold a competition in 2021 as an experiment.
Members submitted photographs of plants in the Amaryllidacaeae grown by them which flowered between January 1st 2021 and May 31st 2021. Members could then vote for what they judged to be the best plant.
Voting has now closed and the result will be announced in our journal, Amaryllids , 2021 Part 3.

Nerine flexuosa from the Fish River, photo taken on 13 March 2021. The atypical microclimate of the escarpment gives us a Spring flowering Nerine.
